As a responsible company there is a right to expect:
- Products manufactured and sourced by Troy Foods Salads Ltd are produced under working conditions that are hygienic and safe.
- Troy Foods Salads acts in an ethical manner above and beyond basic legal requirements.
- Troy Foods Salads Ltd is committed to following and implementing the principles of SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange No ZS 1073323) which the company is a member of
- This policy sets out Troy Foods Salads commitment to its employees and the measures we are taking to ensure that we act in an ethical manner.
- This procedure has been put together in line with SEDEX requirements and with reference to BRC v9.
Commitment to employees
Troy Foods Salads Ltd is committed to ensuring that our staff policy practices, and the enforcement of corporate regulations, ensure the protection of the rights of all those who work for Troy Foods Salads Ltd. Contracts with staff are issued and they clearly give information on such matters as:
- The expected duties set out in the job description.
- Pay rate and Pension scheme available.
- Holiday entitlement.
- Sickness, injury or other absence.
- Grievance procedure.
- Notice periods for termination of employment
Troy Foods Salads Ltd. ethical code of practice
3.1 This code of practice applies to
- Staff directly employed by Troy Foods Salads Ltd on temporary or permanent contracts.
- Staff employed or provided by contractors to work on Troy Foods Salads Ltd’s premises.
- All Suppliers and their respective supply chains.
3.2 No forced, bonded or involuntary labour shall be used.
- All employment with Troy Foods Salads Ltd is freely chosen.
- Staff are not required to lodge deposits or identity papers with us.
- Staff are free to leave Troy Foods Salads Ltd after reasonable notice.
- We require our supply partners to be a verified member of Sedex and support and promote the principles of the ETI Base Code.
- However, if an organisation is found to be employing persons contra to the principles of Membership of Sedex and the ETI Base Code with regards to Modern Slavery Troy Food Salads Limited, commits to undertake a process of remediation with the organisation with an aim to protect, shield and protect the rights and continued quality of life of the child workers.
3.3 No child labour shall be used
- There shall be no recruitment of child labour.
- Children or persons under 18 are not employed at any time, day or night
- We require our supply partners to be a verified member of Sedex and support and promote the principles of the ETI Base Code
- However, if an organisation is found to be employing child labour contra to the above principles Troy Food Salads Limited commits to undertake a process of remediation with the organisation with an aim to protect, shield and protect the rights and continued quality of life of workers.
3.4 An undertaking to make working conditions safe and hygienic
- Troy Foods Salads Ltd takes adequate measures to prevent accidents and minimise potential hazards.
- Staff receive health and safety training.
- Staff have unrestricted access to toilet facilities and drinking water.
- Troy Foods Salads Ltd has a published Health and Safety Policy.
3.5 Working hours and remuneration are reasonable and in line with other companies in the food manufacturing sector
- Staff pay rates are in line with the national legal minimum standards as of 1st April 2025.
- Staff are not forced to work in excess of 48 hours per week.
- Staff are provided 2 days off per week.
- No deductions are made from wages as a disciplinary measure and pay slips detailing lawful deductions are provided for each pay period.
3.6 No discrimination is practised.
- There is no discrimination in pay, hiring, compensation, access to training, promotion, termination of employment or retirement on the grounds of race, nationality, religion, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, union membership or political affiliation.
- Opportunities for personal and career development are equally available to all employees.
3.7 No harassment, threats, abuse or intimidation
- Physical, verbal and sexual threats, abuse, harassment or intimidation are expressly prohibited and grounds for summary dismissal, if proved.
Organisation
4.1 Responsibility
Troy Foods (Salads) Limited Directors, have overall responsibility for all aspects of ethical trading at work within the business. Lead roles are taken by: Head of Technical, Head of Manufacturing, Factory Line Managers (apms) Head of HR, Health and Safety (HS) Manager in the implementation, communication, planning, developing, reviewing and communicating ethical trading policy and standards and ensuring improvement action is taken where necessary.
- Christine Blanchard, Technical Controller is responsible for monitoring, supervision, reviewing compliance and remediation of and with supply partners.
- Amanada Harrison, Human Resources Director, is responsible for the monitoring, review and communication of this policy across departments.
- Andrew Murphy, Compliance Director is the senior board member with the overall responsibility for multi-site compliance to this policy and the demonstrable senior management commitment to the ETI Base Code and SEDEX principles at Troy Foods (Salads) Limited.
The Board of Directors is copied with all corrective actions and audit reports. Each employee also has a duty to cooperate with management so far as is necessary to enable the latter to fulfil its statutory obligations. This includes:
- Co-operating in the introduction and operation of all measures designed to fulfil management’s obligations under this policy.
- Drawing attention to actual or potential problems.
- Suggesting ways in which ethical trading practices could be improved.
Supplier ethical requirements
Troy Food Salads seeks to promote the ETI Base Code and Sedex principles to our supply chain partners. We feel the welfare of all, is the responsibility of all, and ask our partners to join us in this endeavour.
To promote this, we ask –

As to ensure our Supply Chain Ethical Commitment is up to date, as part of our annual supply chain review, we will send an Ethical Trading Annual Update Questionnaire to all our suppliers.

Troy Foods Salads Limited recognises that all organisations must commit to a sustainable business model. We recognise that this will include the following areas –
- Supplier Approval and projecting best practise principles to all our supply partners.
- Monitoring, continuous review and a commitment to the efficient use of our energy resources
- Monitoring, continuous review of the environmental, societal, and ethical impact of our supply partners on their area of influence
- Monitor Troy Food (Salads) Limited’s own impact on the environmental and the societal experience either in direct or indirect for our own footprint.
