David Ward

Managing Director - Troy Foods Ltd

David is a sharp veggie expert, knowing his parsnips from his carrots. A Harper-Adams graduate who has a long history working in the agricultural and food processing industries, he has gained a vast wealth of experience in the produce industry.

David joined Troy Foods in 2012, the year his daughter was born. David was head hunted for his expertise and having worked for a competitor in the industry, was an obvious choice to join our business. His role oversees the entire Veg Manufacturing operation in Beeston, Leeds as well as overseeing the Charity team, Transport Team (based at the Distribution Hub) and being part of the procurement process for produce coming into the business.

In 2016 he was asked to set up the Distribution Hub and assist in the organisation of the Supply Chain function. His guidance and expertise in this area were key to the ongoing success of the business and ensuring our customers were supported and did not feel the pain of moving into the Hub. He moved back to the Veg Manufacturing Site in 2017 after the successful implementation of the Hub and its facilities and works across both the Veg Manufacturing Site and the Distribution Hub in Stourton.

David’s belief in the businesses long-term strategy and mission make him a key leader for the Troy family. David sits on the strategic board to drive the strategy of the business forward. David is known for being ‘grumpy chops’ but he is very funny and well thought of throughout the business. He joined the business to make it better and strives to improve the productivity and product portfolio on a daily basis. He pushes people to generate the best in themselves, and has developed a number of key people throughout the business. He ensures he works with people to enhance their skills and competency levels. He is a people person and very diligent.

He lives in Barnsley (TaRRRN) with his wife Nicola and their three children, loves Leeds United and growing veg at home as well as being a fan of Yorkshire puddings. Oh, and he loves to play Hey Day on his Ipad.
